Whenever I tell an audience I have five daughters, the response is laughter combined
with a groan -- as if I'm part of a joke I haven't been let in on yet.
But they are treasures, and I can't imagine life without them.
Of course, they're also a captive audience. Heh heh.
Once in a while in conversation I give them ideas for things they'd enjoy doing that they could also monetize. Why not get
them thinking like entrepreneurs?
You could do X, Y, or Z, I say, and support yourself by promoting products A, B, and C as an affiliate.
I keep telling my wonderful Regina, 14, that if she launched a cat podcast -- she knows more about cats than anyone I know -- I could easily help her monetize it.
Maybe it wears
on them, but at the same time I know they understand there are worse fates than having a nerdy Dad who wants his daughters to succeed.
One thing they agree on for sure: it's pretty neat to be at the beach, or throwing a Frisbee, or eating a snack and be notified that you just earned a commission.
Especially on something you'd forgotten about, which happens once in a while,
too.
That's as close to free moolah as I'm ever going to get on this earth.
Of all the topics I cover on my website and on this list, affiliate marketing generates the most interest. I think everyone is drawn to the earning-commissions-at-the-beach thing.
