Was holed up with the kids this weekend, nervously awaiting Irma

Published: Tue, 09/12/17

I just spent several days voraciously consuming all the information I could find about Hurricane Irma and when and how it would hit Orlando, where my family and I were staying in a hurricane-proof building for the weekend.

I did all kinds of searches, and I read a whole bunch of articles.

I'm pretty sure I'm not alone. Sites featuring coverage of Irma got a lot of traffic last weekend -- because we were all looking for it.

Now I'll bet you either have now or someday will have some great content -- but people won't be looking for it, or they will but they won't find your site.

"Produce great content," people say.

Pssh.

Produce all the "great content" you want, but what's the point if no one ever sees it?

One of my podcast listeners, Garry Baker, just posted a review of some inexpensive software that brings you targeted traffic. It's created by a couple of guys whose products I've used for a long time.

Without traffic, you won't get eyeballs on what you're writing -- or on the stuff you're selling.

Offer + traffic = dough.

Offer + tumbleweeds = depression.
