Retailmageddon: Take a wild guess how many stores Target had to close in Canada

Published: Fri, 10/06/17

A couple of years ago, Target expanded into Canada, opening 133 stores.

Number of those stores that are now closed?

133.

There are lots of reasons for that particular disaster. But the dramatic shift into online buying sure didn't help.

What does this have to do with you?

Two things.

(1) You can get a piece of all that online buying, even as a complete newbie.
(2) There's no longer any need to borrow $1 million to build a brick-and-mortar store, since you don't have to. You can open an eCommerce store online for basically nothing.

Somebody in my private bloggers' Facebook group said she started in eCommerce at my recommendation, thinking she might earn a few hundred extra smackers per month.

When I caught up with her in August she said she was on track to do $30K in sales that month.

So although retail stores are struggling like never before, the possibilities for individuals -- even complete newbies, like the woman from my bloggers' group -- to open and prosper with online stores are greater than ever.

This stuff changes people's lives. People are writing to tell me they quit their jobs thanks to an eCommerce episode and promo I did earlier this year.
