I had never heard of this guy before, but
evidently he's a big deal.
And all of a sudden he launched into an attack on me that persisted for hours and hours and hours. It was bizarre. I have never seen anything like it, against me or anyone else.
It started around 3pm, and at 2am he was still going.
I'll share the juicy details with you good folks who are on my libertarian email list (the Tom Woods Letter) and on my blog.
For now, a few lessons more appropriate to this list:
(1) I immediately wrote to Ben Settle, my
email marketing mentor, to tell him what was happening and how great it was. When something delicious like this happens, it can build your positioning and rally your audience, and if you know what you're doing, it can even line your pocket. Somebody like this has no idea how much he's helping you.
Watch how Ben makes emails out of critics and trolls, by the way. Those emails lead to a lot of
sales. Never, ever let an episode like this go to waste.
Especially when it's someone with a high profile, like Talib Kweli. It's like Rudy Giuliani attacking Ron Paul. If he'd had any common sense, he wouldn't have elevated Ron's profile by addressing him in that debate. He would have kept his mouth shut.
(2) My followers were all over the discussion and my Tweets were getting liked and retweeted all over the place. But even though he has a million followers, Talib got next to no traction from any of his Tweets (generally no more than three likes or retweets for each), and almost none of his followers jumped into the discussion. I began to wonder -- and I openly asked him -- if he had bought fake followers, as so many celebrities have.
(3) He said some terrible (and of course false) things about me, but at no time did I have to worry. I have no boss, and no corporate board worried about its image. My audience and I are all there is. As long as I please them, I can sleep like a baby every night.
One way to be in an enviable position like that is to
build something of your own -- something you enjoy, and something that generates revenue.
Plenty of people try, but they don't know what they're doing and they give up.
I know the masters of the universe when it comes to this stuff, and they'll show you what to do in our workshop on
Tuesday.
Plus, I'm giving away some smackers during the event: five of you will receive $200 each, just for attending.
A whole new world is about to open up for you.
Please reserve your spot, and
I'm looking forward to seeing you there:
