Here's a major lesson I've learned working online over the years:
What worked 15 years ago doesn't always work today. Strategies come and go. Some get completely wiped out because algorithms change.
Working online isn't like owning a store in 1957. Things can change quickly, and you can either be among the limber and adept who turn those changes to their advantage, or you can occupy the ranks of the clueless, who let events happen to them.
These days the privacy wars and the erosion of trust have been affecting the way we build and run businesses online.
Costs are skyrocketing and things are getting tougher out there in what's been called Web 3.0, and we should be prepared not just to survive these changes, but thrive with them.
A great many business owners are in the dark about Web 3.0, and they risk getting steamrolled.
I am happy to say that my longtime friend Ryan Levesque at the ASK Method Company has been hard at work doing research, running experiments, and seeking advice from the best and brightest out there.
His company has put together The Ultimate Web 3.0 Visual Guide to Digital Marketing, and I suggest you download it and take a look at it. Costs nothing.
It explains everything from blockchain, NFTs, and crypto to which type of data is the most important.
(By the way, what Ryan calls Zero-Party Data is data you own because your customers give it to you voluntarily -- this is and will continue to be crucial in the Web 3.0 era.)
This is your roadmap to the new Web 3.0 future and how it’s affecting your business right now. It's also useful for those of you thinking of starting a business: if you start that business like it's 2015 rather than 2022, you'll be sad.
So again, check out this diagram that shows you what I mean, and why we need to take action not to get killed in this new world:
