My guess is that the push for digital privacy got a shot in the arm (so to
speak) over the past couple of years, when it really began to sink in with people that frankly sinister actors are in charge when it comes to politics and particularly Big Tech.
So the one silver lining of these people is that they're so bad they're waking people up.
The laws pertaining to privacy have been changing, too, and you probably don't want to run afoul of them.
