Of my dozen books, perhaps my favorite is Real Dissent. It's got plenty of the old smackdowns of bad guys that came to form a major part of my reputation.

It gives a good sampling of the kinds of issues I've written about over the past 15 to 20 years, and it's both punchy and informative.

But the thing about it is: there isn't one word of original content in there.

It's a collection of articles I'd written for various outlets. The vast bulk of those articles had never been seen by my current audience. When I assembled them, I had no idea the result would be a 300-page book. Consistent work sure adds up over time.

I have a friend who's done the same kind of consistent content creation over the past 15 years, and the result is that he now has a one-stop repository of every possible topic and training a person in business online or seeking to go into business online could ever need.

He could earn a lot more dough if he released a product that said, "Earn 532 bucks a day with just 10 minutes of work," but because he treats his customers like adults, he doesn't.

Anything worth doing is going to take work, and this guy -- my old friend Kevin Fahey, whom I've mentioned before -- is honest enough to tell you that.

But:

You can either work pointlessly hard, trying to reinvent the wheel and/or figure out every last thing -- traffic, ads, SEO, video, email, product creation, you name it -- on your own, or you can just follow step-by-step training from someone with years and years of experience.

It's still work, to be sure, but at least it's not pointless, hopeless, aimless, exhausting, and demoralizing.
