I learned very quickly just how strongly people feel about their own particular preferences when, about 18 months ago, I said wearing Hawaiian shirts made men look like Boomers, and that men should also avoid wearing shorts.
Based on the reaction, you would think I had said shooting cats in the head
for sport was a good idea.
As some of you know, at my 2000th episode event in Orlando, when it was time for the Dad joke-off with Eric July, I entered the stage wearing a Hawaiian shirt AND shorts.
So Woods here has a sense of humor,
too.
My point: what some people dearly love, others can find repellent.
And that's true for some of my recommendations right here as well.
I myself don't want to work in printables or open an Etsy store. But some people absolutely love that, and since I know people who are experts in that stuff, I want to connect my readers who have those interests with people who know what they're talking about.
You, too, may not find every suggestion I make to your liking. I know
some people vastly prefer to sell their own products rather than, as an affiliate, promote someone else's products in exchange for a commission.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with preferring to sell your own products rather than operate as an affiliate. I myself do both. I am recommending that you listen to Matt McWilliams' presentation on making affiliate
sales, though, because waiting to take action until you have your own product can very easily translate into never taking action at all, and I think we can agree that that is not a desirable outcome.
As an affiliate, you don't have to write a sales page (good, because most people stink at it), perform customer service, ship anything out, hold inventory, or any of
that stuff. Strictly speaking, you don't even have to persuade people to buy anything.
All you have to do is make them curious enough to click a link, and then the professionals who created the product's sales page do the persuading. You just sit back and collect the checks.
Yes, it takes work, but as you can see, it isn't brain surgery.
Matt's presentation with us is coming right up, so please register here and I'll see you then:
