The publisher said: if you're going to write a book on the financial crisis of 2008 you're going to have to be the first one out of the gate. Otherwise you'll get buried by the competition.

So they gave me a month to write it.

A month!

Brutal and awful. But it worked out: Meltdown spent ten weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

Deadlines have a way of focusing the mind, as in the case of Meltdown.

We have a deadline today at midnight PT (which is technically tomorrow for Eastern Time people, I know).

Some people are afraid: how can I use it if I don't have an email list?

"I don't have a list" doesn't work.
