Earlier today I mentioned that the topic of my lunch speech at the Mises Institute's 40th anniversary supporters summit was being kept a secret.
The program said simply, "Luncheon with Tom Woods."
The title of my talk was in fact, "The Lew Rockwell I Know."
Lew Rockwell, founder and chairman of the Mises Institute, has been a great benefactor to me and to the entire libertarian world for a very long time.
In fact, Lew has been very much a father figure to me for over 25 years; my own father died tragically in 1996. He has supported me through thick and thin. He has been one of the best sources of advice I have ever known. My life has been greatly enriched by having Lew in it.
Had Lew known I was going to give such a talk, he would have
objected. Like Ron Paul, he doesn't seek out praise.
But doggone it, I made him sit there and accept it.
Tonight we're having a black-tie-optional event, including dinner with speeches by Lew and Ron Paul.
If you're not able to be here for this, the next best thing to do is, with the final hours ticking down, to watch the great presentation Matt McWilliams did with me on the best business to start when you have nothing to sell.
