I promise I won't make this a habit, but my life once again calls forth a Jethro Tull lyric, this one from 1980's "Black Sunday," as the narrator rushes to catch his flight:

No sign of salespersons to whom I might hand them

It so happens that I am writing this to you on a flight from Miami to Madrid, and just like the character in the song, I grabbed a random paperback in haste before boarding my flight.

I saw one interesting sentence on the back cover and decided it might be worth reading.

Once safely on the plane I showed the book to my wife, who found the social justice language all over the back cover.

(If you've somehow managed to avoid the culture war in America, SJW stands for Social Justice Warrior. And if you're curious, the book is The Last House on the Street, by Diane Chamberlain.)

On international flights I like to read a forgettable work of fiction that simply keeps me entertained for the long period of confinement.

Not happening this time, unfortunately.
