When I was a graduate student, I had no self-confidence.

I felt like I had no original thoughts to offer that would be of interest to anyone. So when I look back at some of the articles I wrote in the 1990s, I find lengthy quotations from other people -- a sure sign that I had little confidence in my own ideas.

A lot of people suffer from what's known as "impostor syndrome." It is raising its head whenever someone thinks, "Why would anyone want to read my blog," or "I have no business being in this dance competition," or "What am I doing starting my own business."

This problem cripples a huge number of people. Do you recognize yourself in it?

The Amazon business model I'm describing to you this week helps solve that problem, because the business isn't about you. You don't have to become an "influencer" or claim to be an expert or anything like that.

Working with (to put it mildly) an established platform like Amazon has obvious advantages, too:

-- Everyone has heard of it, and it already has a reputation for being reliable, whereas most people do not know who you are.

-- A massive number of people already visit the site every day, so you don't have to worry about driving traffic, and it's always recommending additional products to buyers.

-- They take care of everything, so you don't have to interact with buyers.

-- Everyone's credit card information is already stored there, so there's essentially no hurdle standing in the way of people ordering things.

-- You don't have to create a website or set up any complicated technical apparatus.

-- You don't even have to learn email marketing, my favorite thing (but intimidating for some people).

There are many ways to skin the Amazon cat, but they're not even close to equal. What you'll see covered on the presentation tomorrow is to my mind the best approach.

And it doesn't involve creating your own products, or being salesy. It's for the complete newbie.
