But man, does it suck the life out of you to promote them.

You are up against the 200,000 other books that come out the same year yours does, not to mention the countless millions already in existence.

Oh, and each one will earn you maybe $3.50.

Ugh.

Several people I know have tried to break out of this depressing situation with a special way of building buzz before their book comes out, and getting more people to buy the book by throwing in a massive bonus package worth many times the price of the book.

If I'm ever crazy enough to write a book again, this is exactly how I'll do it.
