I wonder if my story reminds you of anything in your own.
Right now I'm quite content in terms of business, family, hobbies, etc. But I had a rough spell that one specific thing helped me break.
In 2010, for
family reasons we needed to move to the Midwest and away from the Mises Institute, where I had been a scholar in residence for four years.
This meant I'd be striking out on my own career-wise.
In the short run, that meant an awful lot of public speaking. I'd have to take three to four trips per month.
I remember dreading having to tell little Regina, who was just 7, as I was tucking her in that I would need to go out of town the next day. She never wanted me to leave. It killed me to have to do it.
So that was one problem.
Another problem: with public speaking accounting for so much of how I made my living, I was hitching my wagon to a very unreliable income source. One month things would be really hot, and the next month they'd be dead.
And because I couldn't know
what any given month would be like, I felt compelled to accept every invitation I got.
This was no way to live.
And now we get to why I'm emphasizing memberships so heavily: it was when I started a membership site (in this case Liberty
Classroom, my first one, which I launched in 2012) that I was finally able to generate the kind of reliable, recurring income that meant I no longer had to leave my family as I went on trip after trip, and I didn't have to worry about my income drying up just like that.
Now of course, that membership does more than support my family. It's helped many, many thousands
of people, and I'm extremely proud of it.
I now operate three membership sites, and they've all done tremendous good for a sizable number of people. But one of those people, of course, has been myself.
I am living proof that this
recurring revenue model can take away that stress and anxiety that so many of us feel when it comes to our earnings.
Now of course, your story isn't exactly the same as mine. You probably don't have to give a lot of speeches for a living.
But you know what I'm talking about -- whatever that work-related thing in your own
case is that keeps you from doing the things you want, including spending time with family, and that worry that no matter how well you do it could all disappear tomorrow, so you'd better not really enjoy yourself today.
That's no way to live, dear friend.
And that's why I talk about the great Stu McLaren, the world's foremost expert on memberships. He can help you do what I've done.
Don't worry that you won't be able to get members. Let me worry about that. I'll talk to you about that soon.
For now, attend Stu's annual live workshop on memberships -- how to come up with a topic, get members, and generate good revenue while helping people.
Use any search engine you want and just try to find a single unkind word about Stu. You can't. That's because he's the real thing, and a genuinely good and smart and life-changing
guy.
Every year Stu blows people away with how much he teaches in this workshop, absolutely for free.
Is getting that knot our of your stomach worth spending $0? I think so.
Register to be there, and you will mark today on your calendar as the day everything began to change for the better:
