Even Woods here is often surprised at what he doesn't know.
I recently learned something about some of the folks who read what I write here: they have no interest at all in being entrepreneurs.
I have no idea what kind of business I would start, they tell me. And I'm risk averse.
So why do they still read?
Because they nevertheless long for the things we talk about here: a good income,
freedom, independence, financial security, all of it.
But they are not drawn to the idea of creating something from scratch and seeing if people like it. The entrepreneurial thing just isn't for them.
Thankfully, there is another way to
skin this cat.
I want to introduce you to one of the most impressive people I've met over the past several years. Steve Harvey, the comedian and Family Feud host, calls him "one of the best damn writers I've ever worked with."
I've had
him speak at one of my events, and nobody else had people more spellbound and furiously taking notes. (If you were there, you will remember this vividly.)
I've featured him on my podcast -- once in the past, and again tomorrow.
And I've been a client of his myself.
I'm talking about Henry Bingaman. There is nobody on Earth I would refer you to before Henry on this stuff, period.
But in 2009 Henry was literally down to his last dollar -- which he kept, wrote "my last dollar" on, and keeps on display in his office.
Here is where he is today:
"These days I’m just about as free as any human can be.
"I have a fully paid off house on 15 acres in the mountains. I have no debt that I couldn’t get rid of
tomorrow.
"And I never have to worry about getting canceled if I decide to post an opinion on social media.
"I work if and when I want.
"I can pick up and leave for a week-long vacation pretty much whenever I want.
"And I don’t ever consider what people I don’t like (and who don’t like me) think of me for even a minute.
"Now, I worry
plenty about the erosion of civil liberties and tech censorship.
"And if I had my way, I’d radically alter the way our government functions.
"But at the end of the day, I’m just about as free as a man can be in today’s
world."
He did this without entrepreneurship and without an employer. He did it by doing something that's grown dramatically in recent years (for good reason), and which can be your key to escaping what you hate and doing what you love.
