They closed the schools in my county today, but I knew why:

Ron DeSantis is running for president, and he is not going to hand the New York Times anything. Every precaution will be taken.

It seemed clear enough to me that nothing much would happen in our area, and that's been the case. No power outages. Some rain, but nothing particularly notable.

It did mean that my plans to go to the beach today or tomorrow, plans I'd made a couple of weeks ago, came to naught. I get so much done when it's just me with my computer at the beach. Melbourne Beach is my preferred one, because I'm often the only person there. It's as if the people of Melbourne don't know they have a beach. Whatever the explanation, it works well for me.

So instead I'm writing to you from a coffee shop, just for a change of scene.
