A couple of vignettes from the Life of Woods at
the moment.
Last night at the Apple store I got the terrible news:
My laptop cannot be fixed.
Last week it simply stopped turning on. The repair guy did everything possible to revive it. The patient did not come back.
If I want to retrieve the data on it, I can use an expensive
data retrieval service. (My friends, now is not the time to tell me the various ways I could have been backing up my data. Trust me that this is a lesson well learned.)
The main thing I'd like to get is the newsletter I was working on -- as you may know, members of my Supporting Listeners program (above the Bronze level, where the math of printing and shipping doesn't add up) receive a 16-page print newsletter in the mail. I had a
juicy one going, but now...up in smoke.
Of course I should at least have emailed it to myself. I have about 75% of it on my phone, but that 25% was really good. I may well have to reproduce it from scratch. Grrr.
Second vignette:
I'm writing to you as usual from the restaurant where I often have breakfast, and
today, as if being a waitress weren't difficult enough under ideal conditions, a couple of teenagers are giving mine a hard time and now, on top of everything, are simply refusing to leave.
This waitress (I prefer that to the anodyne "server") is really outstanding and works really hard, so I'm secretly planning to tip her $100 today, because screw those people.
(Okay, they just left, but as they
stood at the hostess desk waiting to pay, I legit shouted, "Don't forget, tipping is customary!")
I'm sorely tempted to tell the little savages that thanks to them their waitress just had her lucky day, but my wife, who isn't normally with me at breakfast, is urging me to tamp down my righteous indignation a bit.
However, in the midst of all this craziness I have a brilliant
point of light:
Tomorrow I'm welcoming a bunch of readers into my virtual mastermind.
The SOBs who rule us want us isolated and ignorant and demoralized. I'm finding fulfillment in building things that do the opposite: Liberty Classroom, the Ron Paul Curriculum, the School of Life, my business mastermind, and now this virtual version of my business mastermind.
If you
could stand to have specific direction and strategic advice from a room full of smart people, each of whom has a piece of your puzzle, this is for you.
This isn't for people who'd like to grow by 1% next year. It's for people who want to reach heights they'd never even thought of before.
I'll be laying it all out tomorrow in a live presentation and Q&A session, so please
reserve your spot for it now:
