I don't give them a
choice.
Full-fledged websites are great, and you need one. But sometimes they're a little too great -- they give your visitor so many options that the sale or even the email signup gets lost in the shuffle.
For these situations
you want a landing page -- a page where your visitor can do one thing and one thing only: enter an email address or buy your product.
All the other bells, whistles, and links on a typical website distract people. You don't want that. You want them to take that one action.
Bob Murphy and I used to host an annual cruise. (Remember that?) Between cruises, we wanted to collect email addresses of people who might want to join us on the next one.
So...landing page! And what could people do there? Watch a video about how great our last cruise was, and sign up to find out about the next one.
That's it.
When Bob and I launched the Contra Krugman podcast, we put up a landing page with a timer counting down to the show's launch, and collecting email addresses of people who wanted to be notified when our first episode was
released.
So we built some buzz and our email list at the same time.
When I want to give away my free eBooks (to collect email addresses so I can later market my products to people), I create simple pages like this.
To give people a taste of my Liberty Classroom I created a page that gives away a free course. On that site there is only ONE possible course of action: click to get your free course.
Whenever I need one of these pages, I can create it in half an
hour or less, and it's up and running.
I don't know about you, but I'm no techie, so I use a special tool to do all this. I couldn't live without it. If you're serious, you'll need a landing page builder. I love knowing I can throw together a page for whatever might come up, and at a moment's notice. Being successful at this game means being limber like
that.
You know the tool I use is Leadpages. I'm writing to you about it again because they're having their Black Friday sale early -- as in, right this second.
They're taking 40% off their annual plans. That means this is the best time of year to get it.
You'll pay 40% less than I myself do, since I (happily) pay full price.
Here's your indispensable tool:
