Well, this was a mistake.
I'm in New York for a few days, and enjoyed a nice lunch yesterday with Gene Epstein. (That's not the mistake.) I also enjoyed myself at the Soho Forum Israel/Palestine debate last night.
But since I'm in the city alone, I decided to cut some corners. (Here is the mistake.)
My wife had originally planned to take a quick trip with a friend of hers this week. So I arranged to take this
little trip for while she was gone. But her trip fell through. So we decided I'd go on mine, and she'd work on some projects at home.
I reserved a very basic hotel room, a room I'd never have reserved if I'd taken my lovely wife along.
Well, there's a last time for everything, and this is the last time.
No elevator,
only stairs. Pillows half an inch thick. A climate control system I am dignifying by even calling it that. Hot water I have to wait forever for. A mattress that feels like I'm sleeping in the middle of the street.
And cash only, so every day, one day at a time, I need to go to the window and hand the guy $110.
I'm not saying I need jaw-dropping luxury, but I probably owe
myself a bit more than this.
It's especially jarring because just days ago I was in a large and beautiful suite in Las Vegas, where I hosted the third meeting of my mastermind.
Everyone there is in for another year, because they all agreed: this group works wonders.
If you're curious, one of our members, Henry
Bingaman, talked to some people in the group.
This is for growth-minded people who want to get their businesses to the next level.
