On most things ol’ Woods is a traditionalist, but
in this case it’s time for a little radical innovation.
At the traditional conference, you sit and passively absorb information, often from lectures in which you may not have all that much interest. Maybe you’re really there for just one or two of the topics, and the rest of the time you’d prefer to chat by the snack table.
Well, here comes the innovation.
This summer I’m holding an un-conference instead.
On the Saturday of the event, we won’t have presentations or lectures or PowerPoints or any of that.
Instead, we’ll break into different rooms. One room – the one most naturally of interest to people receiving this emails – will be our business room. Here people will lead
discussions on a variety of business- and entrepreneurship-related topics, and you can ask questions about your particular situation.
You’ll also make connections that can surely help you.
In another room we’ll discuss personal development. That can be anything from “how I lost 50 pounds” to “the three tactics that helped me overcome procrastination” to “how I became 20% more
productive.”
In still another room we’ll discuss parallel institutions: monetary institutions like Bitcoin, or educational institutions like homeschools, or political institutions like free cities.
Outside each room will be a board listing who’s leading a discussion on what topic at what time, and attendees can choose where they’d like to go.
Doesn’t that sound a little bit better?
Not to mention:
On Friday night, when we will have a few traditional presentations, we’ll be joined by several special guests, including our old friend Jeff Deist, formerly of the Mises Institute and now at Monetary Metals.
And on
Saturday night, after the proceedings, we’ll be entertained by world-class (and hilarious) magician Doc Dixon, who fooled Penn & Teller on their “Fool Us” TV show and sawed me in half at my 2000th episode.
Doc is one of us, as was evident at the 2000th episode when he made jokes about Michael Malice and Eric July, and even poked fun at a couple of the sponsors of the Tom Woods Show.
All in all it’ll be a great weekend – my first two events were huge successes, with very happy attendees and a room full of impressive, action-oriented people.
The event is free to members of my School of Life and inexpensive for non-members (please note that the entry fee includes a +1 at no additional cost).
