My favorite book story involves our old friend
Scott Horton.
Scott has an encyclopedic knowledge of foreign-policy matters. He's legendary for that.
But guess what:
His public-speaking career took off only after he wrote his first book.
Nothing about him as a person had changed. The only difference was
that now he had a book. And suddenly he was in demand everywhere.
I think over the past few days we've established what a book can do for you. It seems like a lot of work, which is why your competition won't do it.
I for one love things like that, because it gives me an obvious way to position myself ahead of my competition.
Now I'm about to do the tackiest thing I have ever done in the history of these emails -- and trust me, dear reader, that is saying something.
Copywriter Henry Bingaman has told me: you are training your customers to expect to pay too little for what you offer.
Well, today another friend, who's been a repeat guest on the Tom Woods Show, emailed me the
following about my Woods Author Academy, and in fact these were the words I greeted my wife with as she woke up this morning (and by the way, he is referring to the most expensive of the three options):
Hey Tom,
I read your email about the author course launch, but you really should be charging double that, $8k is way too low for what you are offering. I
personally know what you bring to the table, don't undervalue yourself.
Your friend,
I was going to run the promotion through Monday, but my friend's email has made me change my mind: Friday at midnight we revert to the original prices, which are still too low. The high-end one will get bumped to $15K and will never come down again; that much
is for sure.
