The old platitude that money isn't everything is
a waste of your brain space.
Of course money isn't "everything." But if I had to choose between a life in which I'm consumed by financial worries and one in which I'm not, I know which one I'm choosing.
How is that even debatable?
If I have to choose between a life in which I can take
my kids around the world and one in which I cannot, how is that even a choice?
If I'm depressed, maybe money isn't the solution to my problems. And money can't buy a true friend. I concede that. But I'd rather be depressed and friendless in a comfortable, air conditioned home than in, say, an outhouse.
Also, non-financial parts of your life can be greatly
enriched when you no longer have to worry about the bills or whatever the price of groceries is.
Then you get the people who think they're morally superior to you because they're poorer. They don't care about money, you see. Unlike you, they care about the higher things.
But I promise you that with the leisure time I'm now able to enjoy thanks to my
business, I am able to appreciate the higher things more than I ever did before.
For that matter, I highly doubt a 17th-century peasant was hosting book clubs or studying Renaissance painting.
Not to mention, I'm now in a position in which if one of my friends is suffering, or there's some good cause I can make a material difference in, I can go ahead
and help those people and things.
I used to call myself The Secret Benefactor of Suffering Libertarians. But I had to approach you. That was how it worked.
So even if money is evil and stupid and lowbrow, if you have it, you can do some good with it. If all you have is platitudes about the wickedness of money, I'm not sure what good that does.
So yes, I am very openly and brazenly telling you that I have a group whose purpose is to help everybody in it be more successful and make more money, and we make absolutely no apologies for that.
Happy people in that group are ready to get started for our next round alongside our new cohort, and I'd like you to be part of it.
If you were at my unconference in Orlando you may have had a chance to meet a few of our members, and you no doubt realized that these are impressive people.
You become like the kind of people you associate with.
