Last Saturday morning I was sitting on a FreedomFest panel chaired by Matt Kibbe, where I sat between Congressman Thomas Massie and Congressman Warren Davidson (who chairs the Sound Money Caucus).

At the end of the panel, conference organizer Mark Skousen walked onto the stage carrying an award. It was obviously for Congressman Massie. But being my usual wise-guy self, before Mark could say a word I said: "Mark, I'm touched. Surely there are people more deserving than I."

That made him smile. He of course proceeded to hand it to someone more deserving than I -- namely, Rep. Massie.

So my subject line is of course meant playfully.

The award also came with a silver coin. Congressmen aren't allowed to receive honoraria worth more than $50, and Massie noted that the coin wasn't worth $50 (so he could accept it).

"Not yet!" said a laughing Skousen.

And then in terms of outside earned income, a congressman may not earn more than $31,815.

Now thankfully, you, dear reader, suffer under no such restriction.
