Well, the birthday in Jamaica was about as nice as welcoming in age 52 could possibly be, and among other things Jenna and I took a relaxing trip on a bamboo raft with 10-year-old Sarah Woods (they let us remove those life jackets after we were out of sight of The Man):

Readers (correctly) got the vibe from the email earlier today that I'm not super excited about turning 52. I just emailed my libertarian list one of the nice notes those folks sent me, and now one of my most avid readers of this newsletter has urged me to think this way:

"I am THRILLED to be growing older, with the love of a beautiful family, good health, and a thriving business, which helps and supports others."

I'm not sure I'll ever quite get there, but that is indeed a beautiful sentiment and I will TRY to imbibe it.

Then I received the most moving video birthday message from my friend Gene Epstein and his wife, Hisako.

Not to mention notes and tributes from other friends all day.

So I guess it could be worse!
