I can understand the cynic.
Someone he's never heard of comes along and says:
"I can teach you, step by step, a method for making a good living that can give you your independence. No boss, no (or fewer) money worries, and work from anywhere and at any time you like.
"My method has an excellent track record and I have a veritable phone book of testimonials and case studies."
And the cynic replies:
"If this business works so well, why are you teaching it instead of just doing it yourself?"
This question could just as well be
aimed at me, because I also teach what I do.
My answer:
(1) I do what I do AND I teach what I do; there is no contradiction there.
(2) I enjoy teaching people things. I've liked it ever since I was the math tutor in high school who time after time saved athletes from academic disqualification.
And I know that what I teach can help people. Really, really help people.
At my June conference I had people coming up to me the whole time saying: you helped me publish my first book, you helped me fix my business, you helped me escape a truly miserable job.
That sure beats "you recorded a great podcast episode about price
controls."
The point: I teach because I have knowledge that can change someone's life.
The cynic's next question: "If this really works, why isn't everyone doing it?"
Answers:
(1) Whatever the "it" in question is, it takes work, and when push comes to
shove, most people won't put in the work.
(2) They have no idea it exists.
Ten years ago I had no idea that what I myself do for a living today was even a thing. You, dear reader, probably didn't, either, until I occasionally explained it in these emails.
All of this likewise holds true for what Dylan Frost
and Dan Meadors teach about selling on the world's largest platform. Most people don't do it because they have no idea it's an option, or they don't know how to do it or what to do, or they do it all wrong and give up.
I have tracked down the sub-sub-segment of Amazon sellers – about a thousand of them -- who are doing it the most sensible and profitable way. That way removes most of the hurdles you’d normally have to overcome.
Unlike my business, theirs doesn't involve email, so if writing spooks you, this is for you. You never have to interact with a buyer, either. It also doesn't involve the sometimes laborious task of driving traffic, because the world's largest platform already gets plenty of traffic.
They haven't been doing it for long, and a mere 960 students implementing it have already generated
over $1 billion in sales. That's what initially made me take notice.
I can explain it to you, but it’s much better and more intuitive to watch it in action.
When you watch, you will learn exactly what to do. I promise. Nothing held back. All laid bare. You will understand the whole thing. (Needless to say, you don't need your own products -- which is good, since 99.999
percent of people don't have any.)
“Why doesn’t everyone do this if it works so well?” asks the cynic. Because the vast majority of people have no idea it exists -- and even if they did, they prefer to stick with their existing routine even if it's sucking the life out of them.
But now you know it exists.
