In the publishing world I haven't quite done it all, but I've come close.
Academic books with Columbia University Press and Rowman & Littlefield.
An anthology with Basic Books.
Two books with Random House.
A self-published book.
Two New York Times bestsellers.
A $50,000 book prize.
Thirteen books in total, plus four edited collections, and at least 15 foreign-language translations.
I even prepared the indexes
for two books. (Terrible, terrible job. Do not recommend. Unspeakably bad. Like torture.)
I'm telling you all this because it adds up to something very specific: I have lots of experience, and I can help you.
You want to write that book, but the obstacles seem insurmountable:
You don't have the time.
You
don't know where to start. (You also don't know when to finish and declare it done!)
You worry that no one will find out about it.
And so on.
I can help you overcome these obstacles.
And what I also know is this: you can make a full-blown business out
of writing books if you know what you're doing. And you can generate other kinds of income well beyond whatever book royalties you earn, to the point that those royalties will seem trivial.
Want to finally get that thing written, and do it under the guidance of someone who's been writing books for over 20 years, and who, as a nice bonus, more or less shares your worldview?
