Yesterday two of my daughters and I did something
our friend Michael Malice would have gouged his eyes out rather than do: we saw a matinee performance of Maybe Happy Ending, a brand new musical on Broadway.
The story centers around two robots -- helper bots, they're called -- whose models are obsolete. Their replacement parts are no longer being manufactured. Their days are numbered.
But these two robots happen to meet --
and if you can believe it, they fall in love.
Being robots, though, they evaluate love from a rational perspective: love is known to bring pain. Love is uncertain. Perhaps it is best avoided.
And since they have the power to erase portions of their memories, they can simply erase the portion in which the two of them fell in love, and then they need not deal with the pain of
eventual separation and loss.
But is that in the end what they'll actually choose to do?
It's a genuinely delightful story.
Oliver, who's a model 3, is very much by the books; Claire, a model 5, is more spontaneous. But even Oliver (the more truly robotic one) is willing to give something as unpredictable as
love a try.
Even a robot is able to break out of his comfort zone in this story, and we the audience know it was the best thing for him.
You, dear reader, are far more bold and spontaneous than even a model 5.
I realize that joining something like a mastermind involves breaking with routine, and escaping from the
proverbial comfort zone.
But masterminds are also how we experience great things, and reach new heights.
You'll get better, more specific action items for your business than ever before. You can set a match to all those business books that gave you nothing but platitudes and fortune cookies.
Take that step. Do
something the old you would have shied away from. Give my group a try. We enjoy not just each other's business insights, but unforgettable experiences as well (as you may have seen in the photographs I've shared).
Curious? Who wouldn't be? I've just released a six-minute behind-the-scenes video of what it's like being in my mastermind, right at the top of this link; take a look, and then let's talk:
