Looking back on it, if I had to choose between the
process involved in launching a podcast in the early days on the one hand, and repeatedly smashing myself in the eye with a hammer, it'd be a tough call.
(This email isn't about podcasting; stay with me.)
In the old days (which weren't really all that long ago, but say around 15 to 20 years), starting a podcast wasn't a lot of fun. There were lots of moving parts. Once you
were up and running it was easy enough to do, but the initial steps were enough to discourage some people from even getting off the ground.
By contrast, when my friend Bob Murphy launched the Bob Murphy Show, I was able to recommend a resource to him that hadn't existed when I started, and that surely cut his initial investment of time in half -- not to mention how it must have lowered his frustration levels.
Every one of these technological advances is to be cheered, because every one means fewer people are discouraged from doing what they know to be best for them.
The technology has reached a level that truly has to be seen to be believed -- and that includes building a digital business on the side. It's so much easier today I can't begin to tell you.
It helps you overcome the "where do I begin" and "there are too many moving parts for me to do this" and "I work for a living so I can't make time for this" objections to having your own digital business on the side.
Those used to be excellent reasons for not even trying.
Now they may be keeping you inside a comfort zone that may instead be a
prison.
You have to watch with me to really get what's possible today -- the tiniest handful of people are even aware of it -- so reserve your spot here:
