I'm in Auburn, Alabama, to speak at the Mises
Institute's week-long Mises University program, a program I myself attended as a student in 1993.
I got my car detailed today while here, so I took an Uber to pick it up when it was ready.
The driver asked me, when picking me up at the Mises Institute, "What is this place? I drive by it all the time."
I replied, "I consider it the most important building in the
world."
(You could be a pedant and write to tell me that the cathedral at Notre Dame is a more significant building, but you're going to restrain yourself and not do that.)
This turned out to be a very significant Uber ride indeed.
Over the course of eight minutes I explained the rudiments of Austrian economics, we
talked about children and parenting, and eventually he confided in me that he didn't know what to do with his money to be a good steward of it.
We discussed all this and more over those eight minutes. Some of the things I told him turn out to have been exactly what he needed to hear.
By the time we reached the detail place, Chris, the driver, said he wanted to get out
and shake my hand.
He ended up embracing me. I gave him my website and contact info.
Well, I wonder if what I'm about to tell you is exactly what you, dear reader, need to hear today.
Could there ever emerge a situation in which you'd say: it's time to develop my international Plan B, in case it should ever be
necessary to get out of the country where I live, and take my business with me? (I have readers all over the world, so that could be any country.)
Before making a momentous decision like this you need to know what considerations to keep in mind, and what specifically to look for.
Hence I recommend this presentation by the great expert on all these questions, Mikkel Thorup.
It doesn't cost anything (believe it or not, we have on our hands another valuable "free webinar"!) but it's packed with the kind of expert guidance and fascinating possibilities that you're looking for.
Incidentally, I have a couple of friends who live in a perfectly civilized country and pay $0 in taxes on their income. That kind of outcome is possible.
Watch, and give it some thought:
