At one of my conferences, for example, someone taught us about physical exercises that truly benefit us, and exercises that are either a waste of time or liable to produce injury. I don't know about you, but that's knowledge I could stand to have.
Or how about this: I've known Larry Lepard, author of
The Big Print, since 2007. He's the guy who used his own money to take out full-page ads in major newspapers for Ron Paul during the 2008 presidential campaign.
I've also known that he's a brilliant guy and a market wizard.
So I brought him on to speak to my community -- again, to share his knowledge. At the end he made an extremely low-pressure mention of the
fund that he manages, and a number of us wound up investing in it.
Two and a half years later, the $300K I put in there is now $501K.
You see the value of having a curated series of people, who see the world the way you do, imparting practical and valuable knowledge to you?
I recently led a parenting call for the
community, and we came up with a bunch of topics that would make for good sessions in the future:
--kids and electronics/screens
--discipline
--your kids' peers
--homeschooling and traditional school
--sleeping issues among young children
--developing a mission statement and statement of values for your
family (this was a brilliant idea from one of our members)
--teaching kids about money
and other ideas as well.
We'd all benefit from exchanging ideas with other parents, but good luck doing that nowadays: half the people in any group you'd find are certifiably insane, and they'll probably think you're crazy.
In my community nobody has to worry about any of that. We share the same worldview, and we're normal.
In the near future one of our members is going to make a presentation on how she went from three-figure months in her business to five-figure months, and how others can adapt her strategy to their own businesses.
Just for trying us out
for a month for a buck, I'll give you 11 things you can keep forever, including my public speaking training, my specific steps for becoming a better writer, Dr. Miriam Grossman's presentation on inoculating your kids against gender theory, and a bunch of other things I could charge $500 for.
