Ol' Woods here doesn't always have all the answers
when it comes to marketing, and can sometimes use a little help from his friends.
Case in point: the Tom Woods Cruise, a semi-continuation of the old Contra Cruises, and which sailed earlier this year. That thing was one of the most enjoyable times I've ever had; Stephan Kinsella even described it as one of the best weeks of his life.
It's a tough thing to promote, though.
People don't realize how great it is until they've done it. And we're sailing again in 2026.
So I turned to my Elite Mastermind guys and said (paraphrased):
I have something my followers would love, it's nonstop fun, the entertainment is top-notch, the people are fantastic, the dinners are unforgettable -- it goes on and on.
I'm speaking about my cruise.
I would like to persuade far more people to join me next year -- especially now that we have a ton of people walking around testifying that it was the experience of a lifetime.
But as I say, people don't get how extraordinary it is until they experience it. So what do I do?
I got some great
feedback.
One member said one of the questions I should answer is:
"Will there be plenty of free time or will I be stuck in conversations about NAP for a week?"
Great point. The new copy addresses this.
Another guy said:
"The lead video is pretty much all dudes. All the testimonials are guys, 99% of the video clips are guys.
My wife would take one look at that and say no, but if you want to go hang out with your nerd libertarian friends (she would say that with love for you all), then fine, but I’m not going. At which point, I’m not going. Consider selling more to the power behind the throne."
The funny thing is, there's actually more of a male/female balance on my cruise than there is on any other activity I do or anything else I've seen in our world, so it's important feedback for me to know that the video
is giving the wrong impression.
I sent him a previous year's video and he replied: "The style of that video is much more likely to sway my wife. Heard a lot from the women on board, showed them having fun, etc. For those like her, you are selling the traditional cruise experiences: food, activities, excursions."
Another guy suggested: "Maybe include a 'My husband is a libertarian' support group on the itinerary."
So I
decided to do just that!
Here's how the copy reads now:
Clown World can be pretty depressing, and the success of wreckers like Zohran Mamdani can get you down.
So spend a week away from it all, with me.
Here's what
I've forgotten to tell you about my cruise:
-- I host large-scale games that have everyone in stitches -- and this year, the winners will walk away with $$$
-- No boring lectures on the Nonaggression Principle -- instead, great talks from Scott Horton, Clint Russell, and me
-- For the wives/girlfriends: we'll have a special "My Husband/Boyfriend Is a Libertarian/Conservative/Right-Winger" group in case the ladies would rather have fun together. (I know it's possible for it to be the other way around -- the wife is the dissident and the husband isn't -- but that's fairly rare in our experience.)
And by the way, the wives will discover that our special events on board are so
much fun that they'll be the ones asking to come back next year!
-- Exclusive show just for the Woods passengers with world-class magician Doc Dixon, whose trick Penn & Teller couldn't figure out, and who sawed me in half at my 2000th episode
-- Delicious dinners with friends you haven't met yet, and our speakers (like Scott Horton and
me) will rotate from table to table each night
-- Exciting excursions on shore with me
-- Normal people, and normality, 24/7
-- Lifelong friendships: I have people who have been sailing with me for nearly ten years, and they've made friends they remain close with to
this day
-- Our special gatherings for night owls (like Scott Horton, who will talk your ear off all night)
-- Plenty of free time!
-- Our hilarious pitch contest, with the grand prize a free cruise
-- And plenty more! Too much to list!
Special bonus if you register soon, too.
That doesn't even include the optional mini-masterminds we held last time and will hold again next time for anyone interested.
People described challenges they were having in their businesses, or goals they wanted to reach, or
their ambitions to get more customers or clients, and we bombarded them with fantastic, actionable ideas specifically tailored to them.
What do you think? Ready to sail with me?
