In my other newsletter I wrote a few weeks ago
about the hideous redesign of Cracker Barrel restaurants (which was much worse than the logo change, which received a disproportionate amount of attention).
At the time, the company dismissed complaints as coming from "a vocal minority."
Everyone knew that wasn't true, but even if it were, imagine being so tone-deaf as to think that was an appropriate way to refer to a chunk of your customer base, whose only offense was to love
your iconic brand!
Well, it was announced yesterday that Cracker Barrel is ending its partnership with Prophet, the marketing firm responsible for the redesign.
The entire campaign was what we might call an unforced error.
All they had to do was not do this.
It's like telling Coca-Cola: don't change the formula that has made you one of the most recognizable brands in the world.
(Side note: I seemed to be the only person at the time willing to say that I liked and even preferred the new Coke -- which, although a very poor marketing move, really did taste better. Feel free to continue holding your incorrect opinion on this; I'm just letting you know the correct opinion.)
So it's true: if you want to grow your
business, start by not sabotaging it.
My business partner, the great Paul Counts, wouldn't have advised either of those things, and he would have urged you to fire anyone calling for them.
Today I'm hosting a presentation with him that walks you through seven ways to grow your business -- a few you may have thought of and you'll now be inspired to actually do, and a few you'd
never have thought of that can get you good results.
Let other people hire woke firms that hate their customers. You can learn this very afternoon from a 100 percent normal person who doesn't hate you, who's worked for Ron Paul, and who knows more about business or marketing than I have ever known about anything.
Let's finish out the week strong with this great event and get
you some solid results! Reserve your spot and I'll see you in a few hours:
