A couple of weeks ago I was in of all places
Hackensack, New Jersey, to have newborn Henry Woods baptized.
(I am begging you to refrain from emailing me your tract against infant baptism.)
There I had a chance to see a guy I'd known since my days at Columbia University. I think I met him in 1996 or so. He's a vice president at Morgan Stanley, and he does wealth management.
In 1996 his career was just getting
started.
When I saw him in Hackensack, he was talking about starting to plan for retirement!
Well, that sure reminded me of my age.
Now I'll grant you, the retirement is ten years off, but still! Where did the time go?
And when we get there, do we want to say, now I can finally enjoy my life? Or: now I can finally live on my
own terms? Or: now I can finally stop being on call all the time? Or: now I no longer have to scan my phone for notifications?
We are surrounded by technological marvels, and for some reason they aren't making our lives or our livings easier or our savings accounts bigger, even though on the face of it you'd sure think they would, wouldn't you?
Let's use them correctly so we don't have to wait until we're 65+ to be able to enjoy
ourselves, or even to relax.
I'm giving a brand new presentation on this topic. It costs nothing, and there is no 40-minute sales pitch (or any sales pitch).
The catch: you have to be there live. No replay on this one.
