Nerds ain't
popular.
Man, junior high was rough. My interests were different from those of my peers, and they made darn sure I was punished for it.
In high school I sort of hit my stride, but junior high was horrific.
I cheered for the Boston sports teams but wasn't interested in being on a team myself. I enjoyed my little
intellectual pursuits. So I was unlike a lot of the other kids. Not "better," just different.
A lot of my peers weren't interested in celebrating diversity.
These days are long behind me, thank heavens. I'm still a nerd, but it turns out there are people who appreciate nerds after all.
Especially nerds who can do
this for them (expires tonight):
