Back when I was in college (1990-1994) we
complained about political correctness.
Ha!
Little did I know those years would seem positively right wing by 2019.
The political correctness and the hysteria levels are off the charts. Everybody is looking for a reason to hate everybody else.
The groupthink and the solemn rituals -- identifying the sinner, hounding the sinner, perfunctory and predictable statements of outrage about the sinner, followed by the sinner's abasement -- get creepier all the time.
I had dinner with a very successful businessman last night, and he said he's afraid of the craziness creeping into his business. Not because he's concerned outsiders would badger his company, but because his own employees -- of whom he has 200 -- might.
After all, his company didn't issue an outraged statement when Donald Trump was elected, it doesn't observe "Pride Month," etc. He has this wild, controversial idea: since these things have nothing to do with his business, he doesn't do them.
What we've been talking about all week avoids all this. If you have the kind of business Steve Clayton is describing, you can in effect secede from American culture.
More importantly, it's exactly the kind of business I've been recommending. Since you and I will never get 10 million visitors, why sell trinkets with a 10-cent profit margin? Sell something higher ticket and you don't need nearly as many buyers in order to earn a very nice profit. And don't worry: Steve's team can perform the services for you, and you just pocket the difference.
Remember the other feature I recommended: sell something that people buy on a recurring basis. Some of the services you will offer are one time (like website design) while others -- like hosting, security, monitoring of performance and uptime, retainer for routine website updates (e.g. 4 hours per month), website maintenance (plugins, SSL, etc.), visibility campaigns built around SEO -- are recurring, so they generate revenue month after
month.
That's the holy grail right there.
Not to mention: this a business you can be proud of.
It's a terrific franchise.
But it's closing for good in a few days.
Hop on with us for our final presentation, which will be packed with actionable strategies and valuable case studies.
