Remember that first video MTV ever
played?
It was "Video Killed the Radio Star," by The Buggles.
(Last year two of my daughters and I actually met Buggles keyboardist Geoff Downes, and snapped a picture with him.)
That song was a lament: with the rise of television and video, the simple days of radio and using one's imagination had become a thing of the past.
But what the title drives at, intentionally or otherwise, is this:
Adapt, or die.
This is true of online personalities, too.
In terms of audience and monetization, libertarian personalities who make short videos, for example, are absolutely crushing people who don't.
(Not that libertarianism should necessarily be your niche; I think it's actually a very difficult niche.)
Now I'll be perfectly honest: you don't strictly need video for your online business, side hustle, or income stream.
But it sure gets you where you want to be a heck of a lot faster. In my experience that's not even debatable.
And by the way, I spent hundreds of dollars on Camtasia to create my Liberty Classroom courses. Sam Bakker's new software, Create, does exactly what I needed Camtasia to do, for a fraction of that price. You guys now have a major advantage over the Tom Woods of 2012.
Plus, I'm throwing in a bonus: a video in which I present my public speaking tips, accumulated over a 20+ year career.
But it's all withdrawn Saturday at midnight.
Let video kill someone else.
You should thrive.
