Remember my "Interview with a Zombie" with Bob Murphy?
We discussed my book Nullification, and every time I made a substantive point, he'd come back with: RACISM! Or SLAVERY! Or NEOCONFEDERATE! Or whatever. One-word grunts.
It was a funny mockery of the media, that people have enjoyed ever since.
It occurred to me this morning, though, that in this crazy Internet marketing industry, where people suffer from shiny-object syndrome, we have a similar insanity.
So here goes Part II:
WOODS: So you've started an online business! That's great! How much traffic are you getting?
ZOMBIE: LOGO
WOODS: That sure is a nice logo, but it won't do you much good if nobody sees it. How much traffic are you getting?
ZOMBIE: WEBSITE
WOODS: You've sure got a terrific website there! I'm just afraid that nobody is seeing it. How much traffic are you getting?
ZOMBIE: STORE
WOODS: What a nice selection you have in your eCommerce store! My concern is that maybe nobody is visiting it. How much traffic are you getting?
ZOMBIE: [pause]
ZOMBIE: LOGO
WOODS: [exits]
Last webinar I did, we asked: if you've ever tried without success to build an online business, what was the main obstacle you couldn't overcome?
Over 90% of the answers said: I couldn't get enough people to check out what I had to offer.
So:
Here we have by far the most serious obstacle people are likely to face, and yet they're interested in everything but that.
We are breaking the cycle tonight.
