Just had a great chat with the touring drummer for the Moody Blues, Billy Ashbaugh. (He was the drummer for NSYNC
back in the day, so of course I showed him the Eric July/Backwordz cover of Bye Bye Bye.)
Yes, I know this guy, and in fact he lives 15 minutes away from me.
And he has plenty of fun stories to tell about life on the road with the Moody Blues.
These days he gives drum lessons because -- you guessed it -- concert venues are generally shuttered, and "large gatherings" aren't allowed.
Thankfully he has an education business he can fall back on during hard times for performing.
Not everyone in his profession is so lucky. Many performers are in dire straits right now.
Many people in lots of professions are in bad shape.
Hence my broken-record refrain:
Build something, at least on the side, that nobody can shut down.
I wish I could say the live event we're doing to explain a tried-and-true way of doing just that was taking place on Tuesday afternoon (Moody Blues fans will get the reference), but it's actually just a few hours from now.
Be sure to sign up right away, and I'll see you there:
