What a refreshing sight.
In Connecticut there was just a huge protest of high school football players and fans over the decision to cancel the season.
"Let us play!" was the refrain.
Good for them.
Since the control freaks refuse to give us any kind of endgame scenario, and all we get are strange and arbitrary rules and requirements based on numbers we shouldn't even be compiling in the first place, it is entirely right to protest and resist.
If vulnerable people wish to receive no visitors, that is their right.
The rest of us would like to live our lives on the basis of our own risk assessments.
Meanwhile, the places with the worst lockdowns have painted themselves into a corner. Places with much less restrictive lockdowns, or no lockdowns at all, are often doing as well or better than they are.
But if the heavy lockdown places start to let up before they reach the arbitrary, more or less impossible targets they set for themselves, they're implicitly admitting that the whole thing was arbitrary after all, and maybe even unnecessary.
We've all seen people wearing masks at the beach and in other particularly ludicrous places. Michigan is requiring people in gyms to wear masks even while exercising -- even though the World Health Organization itself came out and said in no uncertain terms that you should absolutely not wear a mask while exercising.
I've been reading about people who have not left their homes at all, for any reason, for six months.
In Doomer world, if government restrictions cause you to lose your savings and your business, well, that's a shame, but keep your $#^%@& mouth shut about it or you're a callous bastard who cares more about money than about your grandmother.
This whole thing has done more by far to undermine what little confidence I had in mankind than anything else I've ever experienced.
I'd like to maintain a general attitude of good will toward strangers. But there's an increasing presumption that the average person would gladly take from me everything I valued in order to protect himself against a trivial risk.
So:
If ever there was a time to start making your income independent of these lunatics and make yourself unshutdownable, it's now.
