I'm trying to ignore social media today, because I'm sure it's full of ghouls rooting for the President's
death.
If conservatives had cheered for Obama's death, we would never have heard the end of it, and they would have been shamed _by fellow conservatives_.
But the savagery on display today is just part of usual the double standard.
With the President and First Lady having tested positive, I think we know what we can expect: a ratcheting up of the irrational fear, and further efforts to dissuade you from resuming your life.
I'm doing everything an ordinary person can do to try to get people to see the folly of all this, but when all is said and done I'm not going to be what tips the scales one way or the other.
So I need to think like Harry Browne.
Remember, his book How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World is not primarily about politics. It's really about how to create the best life for yourself in spite of politics -- a message we probably need to hear right about now.
For me, that means making my life as crazy-proof as possible, and teaching my kids to do the same. What that means primarily: don't have my livelihood depend on things that could be shut down or disrupted by the crazies.
For example, public speaking, where I've built up a good reputation for myself, is in the tank right now for obvious reasons. Good thing I stopped making that the center of my financial life years ago.
Time to crazy-proof your lifestyle, too.
Here's somebody who actually knows what he's talking about, who will explain how.
If not in 2020, when?
