The filthy, disgusting college students who made me miserable

Some of you longtime readers will know this already:

As a college freshman, I cleaned student bathrooms for extra dough.

Our dorms had individual bathrooms in each room, rather than the usual (and hideous) gang bathrooms in the hallway. So somebody had to go into each room and clean it, to make sure the kids were living in sanitary conditions.

The old man here was one of those somebodies.

We had two job options presented to us when we enrolled: "dorm crew" (i.e., cleaning bathrooms), or the dining hall. I chose dorm crew because it paid more. I soon found out why.

College students -- men especially -- keep filthy bathrooms.

I would walk into some of them and honestly have no idea where to begin.

By the time I left, they were gleaming. I actually took pride in that, as unpleasant as the work was.

You might say bathroom cleaning was my "side hustle."

Thankfully, there are much more pleasant ones out there. You just need to know where to look.
